1876, the year of our founding, was a time of great innovation. That is the year the telephone was invented, and the new-fangled typewriter had only been mass produced for a few years. William H. Evans was a recent graduate of Buchtel College (later to become The University of Akron) when he founded William H. Evans & Sons Co., a group of financial services including Evans Savings and Loan and The Evans Insurance Agency.
Mr. Evans was a forward thinker. He founded the Dime Bank to fill an unmet service need of small depositors. In more recent decades, the agency has retained the spirit of innovation and customer service on which we were founded and become one of the largest insurance agencies in Summit County. Our natural growth has been augmented by the acquisition of many successful agencies in the Akron area, including the Godard Agency, Chima Insurance and Firestone Park Agency.
We are staunch advocates of the independent agency system because we believe we must serve the client first. We are privileged to represent many fine insurers directly as well as through specialty programs designed to meet unique client needs.
